summary

The Project Accountant plays a key role in supporting the financial operations of BIG Construction by ensuring accurate and efficient accounting processes. Reporting directly to the Accounting Systems Manager, this role prepares, records, and administers the daily transactional and administrative activities of the accounting department to support revenue-generating projects. key responsibilities

·        Provide daily support to the accounting and project management teams, ensuring financial accuracy and timeliness

·        Oversee the monthly billing process, including the coordination of G702/703 pay applications with the project management team

·        Approach all tasks with Drive, ensuring that financial transactions and reporting are handled with efficiency and a sense of urgency to meet deadlines

·        Foster Trust by maintaining accuracy in accounting records, resolving billing and payment inquiries with integrity, and ensuring transparency with internal and external stakeholders

·        Perform clerical functions incidental to accounting activities, including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable(AP), and general ledger (GL) entries

·        Post transactions into financial management software and maintain updated spreadsheets.

·        Reconcile bank and credit card statements with accuracy and attention to detail

·        Bring forward Ideas to enhance accounting systems and procedures, identifying opportunities for process improvement that increase efficiency and accuracy

·        Support ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as needed to contribute to the team’s success

qualifications & experience

·        2-5 years of professional experience in a construction accounting role

·        Highly motivated and eager to challenge the status quo, with a proactive approach to problem-solving

·        Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and professionalism

·        Build strong relationships with project managers and external partners by providing reliable financial support, ensuring smooth project execution, and upholding the company’s commitment to excellence

·        Ability to meet strict monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines

·        Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships

·        Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, & Outlook)

·        Ability to work independently and as part of an energetic team

·        Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position

physical demands

  • Ability to remain in a seated position for the majority of the day while in the home office (between 70% -100% of work time)operating a computer, phone, and other office equipment, i.e., a copier and computer printer (between 70% -100% of work time).
  • Ability to lift or move supplies, equipment,boxes, documents and materials weighing up to 40 lbs (occasionally heavier than 40 lbs) in the office suite or at worksites (i.e., vendor sites, client sites,etc.).
  • Must be able to communicate via phone, email,and in-person with colleagues and professional contacts (i.e., vendors, support service providers, etc.) for the majority of the day (between 70% -100% of work time).

  • Regular communication with internal and external constituents is required, including occasionally
    outside of regular working hours.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction and/or company sponsorship.

Working Conditions & Environment

  • May be required to work beyond office hours – some nights and weekends – as required by the needs
    of the department and this position as well as the needs of the organization.
  • Must be able to commute as required from office to job-site locations located within a 100-mile radius
    from office as required. Reference employee handbook regarding mileage reimbursement.
