BIG Construction completed the buildout for BlackEdge Capital’s first independent office, designed by Lamar Johnson Collaborative. Occupying almost 10,000 square feet of a new building in Fulton Market, BlackEdge’s space includes private and open-office work stations, conference and breakout areas, a café, and a fitness room. Just past the entry, a partial height partition with wood slat cladding creates depth in the space and provides obscured rooms used for storage. The conference room sits just beyond and opens to the larger office via a portal wall with two five-foot doors that pivot around center.
BIG worked closely with the design team and subconsultants to route the MEP ceiling layout around architectural details. Early coordination was essential to achieve keep sight lines clear, creating space within the constraint of the building’s low ceiling height without incurring costs later.
