Berger Schatz’s sophisticated law firm space is comprised primarily of private offices and conference rooms to accommodate the confidential nature of their day-to-day operations. Soundproofing is of primary importance, with office features including sound-masking speakers, full-height walls, and motorized shades on the office fronts.
BIG demoed the space before beginning construction and found the floor tolerance was off by as much as five inches from the edge to the middle. An acceptable difference is less than half an inch over ten feet. To level the floor, new cement was poured, creating a challenge to achieve the desired ceiling height throughout the space. Careful coordinating was required to maintain the design intent of the ceiling treatments, such as a showcase wood slat ceiling in the reception and elevator corridor.
