BIG Completes Construction for Oppenheimer Chicago Office
Oppenheimer’s buildout is a prime example of adaptive reuse. Their team chose a space with a floor plan that they could largely maintain with private offices, which are helpful for their professional services business.
Though the design team reused the majority of the floor plan, they also combined two separate suite to make one cohesive office. The challenge was to match new, available materials with the reused elements to refresh the space and make necessary changes to meet Oppenheimer’s business needs.
For example, in place of the existing reception, they wanted a unique space with two separate areas to create a waiting room and a private cashiers station.
